If you are visiting the historic town of Siguenza, located in the Guadalajara province of Castilla-La Mancha, you should most certainly consider an overnight stay in the charismatic Parador de Siguenza Hotel, which is housed in the restored 12th century Moorish castle which looks down on the town from its lofty position on a hill. Beautifully restored this fine hotel boasts canopied beds, traditional Castilian furniture, lordly hall and royal bedchambers. You can visit its Romanesque chapel dating from the 13th century or enjoy a typical Castilian meal in its fine restaurant or simply absorb the atmosphere of this amazing place. Rooms in the Parador de Siguenza Hotel start at around 82 euros (£6 per night, very reasonable when you consider that your are living history whilst in this place. Siguenza has a long history which goes back to Roman times and beyond, it has a cathedral which you can visit and an art museum with some fine examples of Spanish religious art, it is situated around 120km east of Madrid in the Castilla-La Mancha region of Spain’s interior plains.
